Marty McVey is an accomplished businessman and public servant with over 24 years of international development and business development expertise. By profession, Mr. McVey is founder and shareholder of 14 highly successful Private Equity and award-winning businesses in the Real Estate, Energy Services, Financial Services, Agriculture, Manufacturing and Healthcare sectors.
In 2011, McVey was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as a Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Board for International Food and Agricultural Development [BIFAD]. His responsibilities with the agency included providing guidance to the federal government on investments in training, research, and technology transfer to developing countries. He served as Chairman for the Haitian Reconstruction Task Force and Chairman of the Budget Committee. In 2015, he resigned from his USAID post to participate in the election for Mayor of Houston, Texas.
McVey has guest lectured at many colleges and universities including Texas A&M University, University of Missouri, University of Louisiana, University of St. Thomas, University of North Carolina, University of Montana and University of Houston and is an Adjunct Professor at Tan Tao University School of Business in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He earned a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration with concentration in Management from American University. He received a Global Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University as well as a Máster Universitario en Administración Empresas from Esade University. McVey is a graduate of Harvard Business School's 'Developing Future Leaders' Program.
McVey's civic engagements are far-reaching. He is a donor and supporter of several charitable organizations including: Halo House Foundation, Disaster and Humanitarian Services, Human Rights Watch and the Tahirih Justice Center. He is a lifetime member of the NAACP, a National Advisory Board Member of the Tahirih Justice Center, and a committee member on the Bush-Clinton Ike Coastal Recovery Fund. He is also actively involved in promoting the economic development and sustainability of the City of Houston.
In 2019, McVey was appointed by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, and confirmed by the United States Department of State, as Honorary Consul General for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and served from 2019 - 2022.
